Southern Pacific 409 is a C-30-4 class steel bay window caboose and is located at the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum in San Luis Obispo, CA. Built in 1947 by AC&F as SP subsidiary company Texas & New Orleans number 509, it was renumbered as SP 409 after the SP/T&NO merger of 1961. This car is part of a group of 35 SP and 15 T&NO cars that represent the very first steel bay window cabooses ever built for the SP. Images taken on September 19, 2007.
