Southern Pacific 4023 is a C-40-4Z class steel bay window caboose and is part of the South Coast Railroad Museum collection in Goleta, CA. The 200 original cars in this class were numbered 1400 to 1599 and were built in 1961 by Pacific Car & Foundry. This car, along with 122 others, were rebuilt by SP in Sacramento between 1973 and 1975 and assigned a new number in the 4000-4129 number series. Images taken on September 18, 2007.
