Captive Caboose - Lehigh & New England 583

LNE 583 is one of a group of 5 steel cupola cabooses built in 1937 by the Reading company shops and was one of three sold by CNJ to the Steamtown Foundation in 1975. It was repainted and correctly renumbered from 580 to 583 in 1999. This caboose is part of the collection at the Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Image was taken July 21, 2000.
